Homeowners at McCarthy and Stone’s newly opened assisted living development, Bowes Lyon Court, in the Dorset town inspired by the Prince of Wales, watched the unveiling from the outdoor terrace which overlooks Queen Mother Square.

Kim Caldwell, Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “Everyone really enjoyed themselves. It was a great way for homeowners to feel part of the celebrations going on outside in the square, and we were lucky enough to have some of the best views of the statue and of the royal car arriving.

“The noise from the square was incredible and at Bowes Lyon Court there was a real buzz about the place with everyone excited to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty.

“Many of our homeowners have apartments which look directly out onto the square and the statue so they really do have that regal feeling. It’s such a fitting tribute and a great centrepiece addition to Queen Mother Square.”

The new development of one-and-two-bedroom apartments is designed for the over-70s. Homeowners are able to retain their independence in the form of homeownership, but with the comfort of knowing that there is extra support if they need it.

Half of the apartments are still available to buy after interest from local retirees, and people looking to re-locate to the area. Most of the apartments have balconies, as well as tall, Georgian-style windows, designed to maximise natural light into each of the apartments. One-beds cost from £245,000 and two beds from £365. There are 22 one beds and 12 two beds remaining.

There is also a library, restaurant with outdoor terrace, well-being suite offering health and beauty treatments, and  a billiards room.

A homeowner’s lounge is available for residents to pop in and enjoy a coffee and a chat, plus a guest suite should relatives or friends wish to stay over.
