Moving home can be traumatic at any time but even more so when you have been living abroad.

David and Jane Peatfield know this all too well, having moved to Beechcroft’s The Farthings development in Leatherhead, Surrey, after living in South Africa since 1981.

“Initially, our relocation to South Africa was on a two-year business contract which turned into 36 years of life in a truly beautiful country where we experienced the amazing wildlife, wonderful climate and the joy of living in a coastal forest estate with its natural beauty,” explains Jane.

The couple decided to move to Surrey so they could be close to their son and his family in Cobham and their daughter and family in Fetcham.

“Although we visited other Beechcroft developments, the Leatherhead development suited our needs perfectly,” Jane adds.

“We had looked for various types of property on the relevant websites but the Beechcroft website gave us a really good feel about the company and its developments.

“We were excited to be at the launch of The Farthings last summer and were impressed with the spaciousness of the apartments and particularly liked the large hall/dining areas leading into all the other rooms.”

The fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom and the second bedroom were also a selling point for the couple and they fell in love with the show home with its very modern look.

“We are very happy with our three-bedroom ground floor apartment and make very good use of the sun room which overlooks our lovely patio and garden area.

“One level living is perfect for us as we face the challenges that later life presents.

“Equally it is reassuring to know there is an Estate Manager for maintaining the standards of the estate.”

The Farthings is a collection of elegant, two-and-three-bedroom houses and apartments; each with an abundance of living space.

The houses provide sun rooms, private terraces and gardens and the apartments have gardens, balconies or roof terraces. The private gardens as well as communal grounds are maintained by the Estate Manager, who is on hand to organise the cleaning and maintenance of the communal areas as well as to keep an eye on properties whilst the owners are away.

The Farthings provides a communal lounge, communal terrace and guest suite comprising a bedroom and en-suite shower room which may be booked for family and friends.

“At this stage of our lives we feel certain that we have made the right decision to make The Farthings our home for many years to come, hopefully,” Jane adds.

“Here we are close to open countryside and the many beautiful attractions Surrey has to offer.

“We love playing golf and there is a variety of golf courses close by.

“At the same time Leatherhead town centre is a short walk away. Transport links are excellent and a shuttle bus will be available should we require it. We are looking forward to making use of the Leatherhead Leisure Centre which offers many opportunities to keep fit.”

As David and Jane have discovered, the finish on the new homes at The Farthings is excellent.

The kitchens feature hand-made units by Manor Cabinets and the integrated appliances are of the highest quality.

The bathrooms and en-suites include contemporary white sanitaryware and complementary fittings such as vanity units and mirrors.

At The Farthings, owners like the Peatfields, will be able to take advantage of a menu of additional services offered by the neighbouring care home including social events, hairdressing, hot meals and, if required, short term care following illness or an operation.

“The Sales Consultant on site has been exceptionally helpful as has the Site Manager and the Assistant Site Manager,” Jane concludes.

Prices start from £495,000 for a two-bedroom apartment with balcony. To find out more contact the Beechcroft sales team on 01372-377270 from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday inclusive. Or visit: www.beechcroft.co.uk.
