A retired couple from Leicester have bought a David Wilson Homes property which they are leasing back for three years before they move in

Retired head teacher Jayne Shelton-Knight, 56, and her husband Michael, 59, a retired businessman, have bought a four-bedroom home on David Wilson Homes’ new development Glenfield Park in Leicester, as a three year investment before they move in.

“We’d been thinking about selling our current property and downsizing to a smaller house but we’d made the decision to rent for a few years in between,” says Jayne. “Giving us plenty of time to find the ideal home. However, when we saw the show home at Glenfield Park we realised it was exactly what we were after.”

“We knew we wanted to downsize, but we still wanted space, so the Winstone was perfect; it has four bedrooms which are all a good size and as soon as we walked in it felt really open and welcoming.

“As we’d already thought about renting for a few years while we searched for a new home, the Sale and Leaseback scheme seemed like the ideal option for us. With it, we could buy the show home and lease it back to David Wilson Homes for three years, so we’d be making some extra cash to put towards rent and we’d have the perfect home ready to move into when the three year lease was up.”

Under the Sale and Leaseback scheme, you can buy one of David Wilson Homes’ show homes, and lease it back to the company which means you get a guaranteed tenant for the duration of the lease and up to five per cent annual rental yield (paid monthly). The property also comes with a five-year fixtures and fittings warranty.

Philip Lacey, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “Bricks and mortar continue to prove a sound investment in today’s economic climate, and with the Sale and Leaseback scheme the investment is guaranteed, with no chance of a chain falling through.

“It’s great to see a retired couple taking advantage of this scheme with the aim of moving into the home when the three year lease has ended. I look forward to welcoming them to the community at Glenfield Park and I’m sure they’ll be very happy there.”

Glenfield Park is a new development located on the outskirts of Leicester featuring a range of two, four and five bedroom homes, costing from £204,995.
