An award-wining young artist is bringing joy to those in isolation by offering to paint their favourite pet, home or loved one from a photograph.

“In times of unease, the importance of friends, family and pets cannot be underestimated,” says Millie Midgley, an exhibitor for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

“What better way to remind yourself of your loved ones than with a watercolour painting. It can be of a close friend or family member, a beloved pet, your house or perhaps the church you got married in.

“It would make the perfect gift to raise someone’s spirits at this current time or as a treat for yourself to brighten up your home.”

London-based Millie, 27, graduated from Loughborough University with a Fine Art degree in 2015.

After early success exhibiting her work at The Old Truman Brewery Gallery in London, she went on to participate in Sky Arts’ TV programme Portrait Artist of the Year in 2017.

She has also twice been shortlisted for the BP Portrait Award at London’s National Portrait Gallery.

Her website www.milliemidgleyart.com also features an eclectic mix of works people can buy straightaway to brighten up their homes from a triptych of shellfish prints in red, orange to beautiful houseplant prints in soft greens.
