osprey retirementBird lovers can combine a two-night stay in a luxurious Grade II listed Georgian hotel in the Lake District with some osprey spotting this summer.

Guests choosing an Osprey Spotting Break at Overwater Hall in Ireby will be provided with two nights bed and breakfast in one of 11 elegant rooms,  afternoon tea on arrival, a picnic for a day out osprey watching, a book of local walks and a four-course dinner in the hotel’s award-winning restaurant on both evenings of their stay.

osprey retirementThe hotel, which is owned by your hosts Angela and Adrian Hyde, occupies a stunning location, close to prime osprey-viewing points in 18 acres of its own private gardens and woodland, not far from Keswick and Cockermouth.

Ideally suited to older guests, Overwater Hall has a downstairs wheelchair-friendly garden room and a friendly attitude to dogs. So your pooch can enjoy a break away too. The hotel is also not far from Whinlatter Forest Park, home to an abundance of delightful cycling and walking routes.

The Lake District Osprey Project has worked wonders in providing a natural safe haven for the birds to breed in the area after an absence of around 150 years. Two of the best viewing points over the summer months will be in Dodd Wood, very close to Overwater Hall.

Of course you could just book the Osprey spotting break, enjoy all the hotel luxuries and leave the binos behind!

Overwater Hall’s Osprey Spotting Break costs £290 per person based on two sharing a double room. For further information visit www.overwaterhall.co.uk.
