Pupils from a North London primary school have designed site-safety drawings for hoardings at a new retirement development
In a visionary educational exercise inspired by Elysian Residences, pupils aged 7 to 9 from St Agnes RC School took part in a four-month collaboration with the operator, starting with a presentation on health and safety issues at its site The Oren, under construction in Hampstead.
The youngsters were then asked to create an illustration to show some of the dangers that exist on a building site and enter them in a school artwork competition.
Five of the best illustrations were then chosen to be transposed onto The Oren’s site hoardings.
The judges were Janine Jasper representing Elysian Residences; Tony Cobb, The Oren Site Manager from Kingscote Construction and St Agnes teacher Nadia Panas-O’Brien.
The winning artists were then invited to a special site tour at The Oren to view their newly-installed artwork and gain a further understanding about health and safety in the construction industry.
The school’s Head Teacher Susan O’Reilly commented: “We are very appreciative of educational opportunities that can both stimulate and inspire pupils, which is why opportunities like the building site health and safety presentation provided by Elysian Residences, are important.”
“While not all 120 pupils who saw the presentation were able to win and visit The Oren building site, the information and issues presented have provided food for thought, as pupils realise that building sites are not just about deliveries of cement and bricks.”
“Our budding artists were thrilled to have won and excited to be able to visit a real building site and see their works displayed: the child sized Hi-vis vests were greatly appreciated and made them feel part of the site team.”
Gavin Stein, Chief Executive Office, Elysian Residences, said: “Elysian Residences is committed to building and supporting communities, both within the residences we develop, such as The Oren, and the wider area.
“The opportunity to work with community groups and schools, providing both support and extramural opportunities also brings a new dynamic to our work, helping to ensure that the communities we create are integrated with their wider surroundings.”
“Our vision is for The Oren to become the best retirement community in Hampstead, which is already one of the finest places in London to live.”
The Oren is a high-end retirement community, which will combine exceptional hospitality and care with hotel style amenities and offer 44 homes to buy.
There will be 24-hour concierge, a library, private cinema, fine-dining restaurant, health spa with swimming pool and flexible care if required.
The facilities are designed to promote physical and emotional wellness, with a programme of optional-attendance community activities and events.
The Oren is expected to be completed in 2024. Apartment prices start from £1,700,000. For further information contact Elysian Residences on Tel: 020 3991 0176 or visit: www.elysianresidences.com
