Six months and 899 miles after starting their latest fund-raising challenge, the property owners and staff of Castle View Windsor have crossed the line and raised £1,400 for the NHS charity, Frimley Health
After successfully completing a virtual marathon together (26.2 miles) and raising £970 for the NHS at the start of the first lockdown, the residents and staff of Castle View decided to up their game and take on a new challenge.
They decided to walk the equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats, started on 20 April and ended with the final lap being completed exactly six months later.
Each walker was rewarded with a competitor medal, and a celebratory glass of Prosecco.
The concept behind both events was to get fit and raise money for the NHS. Participants could either run or walk over one of two routes around the retirement village’s new building.
“It was a lot of fun, and a great effort enthusiastically embraced by everyone,” enthused Lisa Fisher, village manager of Castle View. “It created yet another example of the wonderful community spirit that thrives here.”
Ian Fairbairn, one of the resident participants said: “One of the routes included walking around the Sky Deck, and it certainly helped with motivation to have such amazing views of Windsor Castle!”

Not ones to rest on their laurels, the Castle View residents have already embarked on their next virtual adventure, and set off on their winter challenge of walking Coast to Coast, a total of 190miles.
Castle View Windsor is a retirement village where the emphasis is on living rather than retiring. The premium village has 64 contemporary one, two and three-bedroom apartments priced from £395,000.
