Residents at Brio Retirement’s Beechwood Park village have been busy helping the local community this festive season as well as taking part in a famous Christmas tree festival

Brio’s Beechwood Park in Stow-on-the-Wold in Gloucestershire has opened its doors as a ‘Warm Hub’ – helping local people in need of warmth and companionship this winter.

The Slate & Grain brasserie is welcoming people over 65 every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm – providing a warm and friendly environment for people to socialise over refreshments and take part in activities.

Brio’s Director of Operations, Karl Hallows explains: “It’s very important to our homeowners that we play our part in the community and opening up Slate & Grain as a warm hub is proving a great success. Times are hard – people are afraid to heat their homes due to fuel costs, yet it’s a necessity in these current icy conditions, so this is our way of giving a little back and welcoming our neighbours into the Beechwood community to share some festive cheer together.”

Residents have also been taking part in the annual Christmas Tree festival at St Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold crafting decorations for their Beechwood Park Tree in the church and supporting the Rotary in this year’s festive fundraiser.

“We’ve really kicked off the festive season in style here,” added Karl.

“Our talented Arts and Crafts Group took ownership of dressing our very own Beechwood Park Tree within St Edwards Church – one of 40 beautiful Christmas trees decorated by local children’s groups, schools, organisations and businesses.

“Additionally, we were honoured to be this year’s sponsors of the North Cotswolds Rotary Christmas charity band concert – which raised an impressive £3,500 for the for the Royal British Legion and Project Lifeline which is supporting Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

“Everyone has pulled together to bring a sparkle to lots of faces, and the community spirit here at Beechwood Park is a joy to be a part of!”

Beechwood Park is an age-exclusive community, situated in the picturesque market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, in the Cotswolds.

The integrated retirement development features one, two and three-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom bungalows, which are now available to buy, rent, or part buy, part rent.

All homes come with their own outdoor space as well as access to landscaped gardens; there is also an extensive range of facilities including a contemporary wellness suite, hobby room, roof terrace, landscaped gardens, fitness studio and outdoor exercise trail, plus the Slate & Grain brasserie, bar and coffee lounge – the venue of the Warm Hub.

Karl concludes: “We have created a well-thought-out provision of amenities that provide customers with a safe and secure environment in which they can live life to the full. Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but it can also be isolating for some, so it’s our pleasure to extend our festive community activities out to other older people in the neighbourhood who may need to use our facilities, or just need to see a friendly face this winter.”
