Hollyoak House, just off the High Street in Loughton, has 29 one-and-two bedroom apartments and generous outside spaces available to buyers aged 55 years plus

The new apartment scheme in this Essex hotspot offers retirees the best of all worlds, in a post-pandemic era where downsizers want homes with private outside spaces, and urban amenities on the doorstep.

The House Manager is Nick Beasley (pictured left), a former London taxi driver.

During lockdown, he chose to transfer his great people skills to work at the development and hasn’t looked back.

We’ve built a wonderful lifestyle community that has an impact on everyone who lives or visits here. Even my wife says I am a much better person for working at the development.”

All the apartments, designed and delivered by London developer Aitch Group, have private balconies or terraces, and are set within a gated scheme.

There is also a guest suite, several resident’s gardens, parking/mobility-scooter storage and a spacious Club Lounge.

During the design phase, special consideration was given to the construction of attractive communal spaces, such as the Club Lounge, which has been shaped to foster community spirit and encourage informal interaction.

The atmosphere in the lounge is one of a relaxed but high-end boutique hotel, complemented by a large planted communal garden which is perfect for outdoor gatherings, socialising and events.

Community activities are an important part of life at Hollyoak House and Nick makes sure that residents are fully involved.

“When a homeowner comes up with an idea for an event we try to make it happen,” he says.

“This should be the place where everyone feels free to do what they want. For example, at the moment we have a fish-and-chip night every other Friday. In between that we have a film night. We also offer a Pilates class twice a week.”

Currently the majority of homeowners are single and have lived on their own for a couple of years.

“What makes Hollyoak House so beautiful is that it brings those people together,” Nick adds.

“This is why community events are so important. It’s quite daunting to move into a new place but every time someone new moves in within 10 minutes they are sitting down with another resident telling them their story.”

John and Jenny Dessauer, who recently moved to Hollyoak House are delighted with their decision.

“We chose Hollyoak House as the location, facilities and community were everything we would need as we get older,” said JOHN?

“Our family are very pleased that we have moved here as they know we are safe, secure and have a community life.

“We have met other residents as they have moved in at our informal coffee mornings, which are a truly lovely way to meet people.

“Security was also an added factor when looking for our future home.

“Hollyoak House has a secure gate which was very reassuring. We believe that living here will give us a sense of security and enable us to live in a supportive community.””

Hollyoak House is ideally located on the High Street in Loughton with its cafes and restaurants. It is also a stone’s throw from Morrison’s supermarket.

Epping Forest is nearby, as is Loughton Underground station; where the Central Line can whisk you into the city in less than half an hour.

Chelsea Reynolds, director at Aitch Group says: “We are very proud of the excellent facilities and apartments Hollyoak House as well as the wonderful community there that we are helping to shape.

“Some homeowners have felt isolated during the lockdowns and now want amenities and social life on their doorstep rather than being a drive away, making carefully-designed developments such as Hollyoak House even more relevant.”

Prices for the apartments at Hollyoak House start from £395,000.
